A Serendipity Garden Wedding

"Kylie and Noah tied the knot at the beautiful Serendipity Garden Weddings in Oak Glen, California. The day started early as Kylie prepared to marry the man of her dreams surrounded by her bridesmaids. When we arrived, we could feel the buzz of excitement in the air as the reality of the day started to take shape. My favorite moment was photographing Kylie and Noah while they took communion as their first act in their new marriage. It was such a beautiful testament to this sweet couple and their priorities as husband and wife. A couple of fun things to note: The couple not only included an adorable dessert bar in addition to their cake, they also had a trail mix bar for their guests, and a s'mores bar when the sun went down!"

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices): As someone who grew up in Arizona, all I wanted for our wedding was for it to be surrounded in greenery. Serendipity Garden Weddings was exactly what I was hoping for - an outdoor venue covered in white roses and surrounded with lush greenery, even in August!

Tell us about your attire choices: Since the venue was soft and romantic, that was the look I was hoping for my bridesmaids as well. Show Me Your Mumu allowed me to choose between so many colors. With the help of my bridesmaids, we decided on a soft green/blue/grey color for the bridesmaids' dresses. Show Me Your Mumu carries each dress in multiple styles so my girls were able to wear different styles that complimented them.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip? The most important thing to the two of us for our wedding was for it to be outdoors and that it would reflect our love for God and for each other. We chose to take communion together as one of our first acts as husband and wife.

What were your favorite parts of the day? (memories and stories): I loved being able to get ready with my girlfriends at The Cottage at Serendipity. It was so fun to watch everyone's hair and makeup being done while chatting and getting excited for the events of the day. One of my dear friends, who had done my hair for proms and school dances in Arizona, was able to come to California to do my hair the day of the wedding, which was very special for me. Another favorite moment for me was when my husband and I did our "first look." Our venue had a beautiful barn near the ceremony site where we were able to do our first look. I was standing inside the barn while Noah was waiting for me outside. Our mothers each opened one of the double doors so we would be revealed to the other person at the same time. It was a sweet moment seeing my groom get teary-eyed while we saw each other for the first time that day.

How did you choose your wedding venue? Serendipity Garden Weddings was only the second venue we explored. I fell in love with it right away but what really sealed the deal was that this particular venue was all inclusive. This meant that Serendipity already had contracts with certain bakeries, florists, caterers, etc. However, we were given the option to find our own as well. Since I was in graduate school, this made the planning process much easier.

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions? A special tradition Noah and I chose to include during our wedding day was to have a family prayer upon arriving at the alter and taking communion together as husband and wife. My parents prayed over Noah and I in front of our friends and family. We wanted our wedding to show our relationships with God. This is why we also decided to take communion together at the foot of a wooden cross. We took communion and had a sweet moment of prayer together, just the two of us.
