Classic Meets Bohemian Wedding Inspiration

"The goal was to inspire the bride that loves both the classic and whimsical, bohemian feel. It all begins with an elegantly crafted wedding invitation on a classic ivory card stock with lovely gray calligraphy. The location we chose set the tone with magnificent oak trees, one that provided the perfect backdrop for a ceremony site. With angelic whispers of soft neutrals and a variety of pastels, the floral design is a rich mixture of cappuccino, ivory and various shades of plum.

BHLDN graciously provided two beautiful gowns for our inspiration bride - the Onyx and Sian. The Onyx brought the delicate and soft aesthetic with its dreamlike flowing tulle that blew in the wind. The Honeysuckle Halo emphasized tied together our two themes bohemian look by pairing leaves and baguette flowers with glass crystals and gold plated brass. I loved how our hairstylist braided the halo's ribbons into the bride’s up-do. For the reception, the Sian’s flower embroidered sheath gown set the tone for the evening with a more relaxed look, paired with a beautiful flower crown created by Enchanting Blooms.

The scent of pine in the crisp air added ambiance to the blanket of trees that hung over the reception, beautifully draped with twinkling lights, creating a picturesque and dreamlike atmosphere. We used textures of warm metals, crystal glassware, leaf embroidered linens and a worn wooden farm table with beautiful cross back chairs.

Something different we chose to incorporate is the delectable gourmet plated food. It was an experience in and of itself, as Anne Taylor provided our vendor team with delicious appetizers to snack on during a break from the production. Photographing her food was just as much a joy as eatng it; discovering that those plates were not only tasteful but also well designed adds such an experience for a wedding. There are many “foodie” brides out there who want their guests to love the meal just as much as they love the gown, decor, and all the simple beauties of the affair, and we think that’s fabulous!

My favorite part of the day was as the evening winded down, and we headed back to the reception area. The lights were glowing beautifully as we lit the taper candles in the chandelier, which hung from the branches in the trees. There’s something so romantic about a quiet, candlelit dinner for two after a gorgeous elopement under an enormous oak tree draped with florals… it’s something I dream to photograph everyday." -Jenna Petersen Photography
