"We really wanted a venue and atmosphere that really showcased who we are and the things we love - definitely good food (eating is one of our foundations), the cake was being made by finalist on Top Chef Desserts (we love watching Top Chef), we served Blue Bottle Coffee (from our first date and our engagement), our DJ was chosen because he was very into EDM music and loves Diplo (from our concert/Coachella adventures), the venue/villa is reminiscent of Italy (for all our travels; we took our first trip together to Copenhagen/Sweden/Norway when we had only been dating f for five months!). We really wanted everyone to enjoy the party [and after party] and take in how we brought them into an experience that symbolized us. About the venue: Eleana took some recommendations from friends and went down a rabbit hole of Google. She built a spreadsheet and presented it to Mike - name of venue, how many guests, cost, catering/alcohol information and link to some weddings that had been there previously. She asked Mike to narrow it down to his top three. They went to look at the sites and she asked for his least favorite. Then it was just down to two and we both had a really strong feeling about Villa del Sol D'Oro (that's also how we found Sun & Sparrow as photographers - when we were looking at prior photos of weddings at the venue!). The whole process on finding our venue took less than three weeks!"
