Laguna Beach Proposal by Blissfully Illuminated Photography

It’s not too often that a photographer and groom-to-be can flawlessly pull off a sneaky proposal shoot. Blissfully Illuminated Photography and Josh managed to make it look easy with this proposal. Words don’t even do her reaction justice.

Their love story: Josh and I met when a mutual friend was in need. We both showed up to be there for our friend and from there we grew a friendship of our own. We just started talking and couldn't stop! We were able to relate on everything, most importantly our passion for life and faith in Jesus Christ. We quickly became best friends. About three years into our friendship Josh told me of his feelings for me, and mine were the same. I was really hesitant to get into a relationship because I have nerve damage in the back of my head, and it causes me constant, excruciating pain. I just didn't want to put anyone through having to take care of me constantly or hold them back in life because of the fact that there are a lot of things I can't do because of the pain. But josh so sweetly assured me that he felt so called to love me and be there for me. And he stuck to his word on this. Our love is more than I could have ever dreamed for. I am head over heals for his silliness and his passionate heart!! And he is constantly amazed by my joy in life and God through my constant pain. We have fallen so deeply in love and we feel like the luckiest people in the world to have found each other.

The proposal: Early in the morning we went down to laguna beach to watch the sunrise. It was a gorgeous morning and I was stoked to be there with him. We decided to take some pictures and he kept telling me how much he loved me. Then we went to find some anemones in the tide pools and he stopped me, hugged me, and told me how much he loved me again. When he hugged me I heard his heart beating so fast! I asked if he was ok and he assured me he was and it was just the caffeine from the coffee we had picked up on the way making his heart race. We laughed and hugged again and watched the sunrise. And then he took my hands in his and started to tell me that he was reading Proverbs 31 in his bible and verse 29 really stuck out to him. "Many woman have done excellently, but you truly surpass them all" he told me this was so true about me. That he could not have asked God for anyone better. He told me that he wasn't going to be one of those friends that gets weary of being there for me in my nerve damage and run away, but instead he was going to stay right by my side forever. He told me he desires to take care of me and love me and protect me and provide for me for the rest of his life. Then he dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him. And I said yes with all the enthusiasm, shock and excitement in the world! We hugged, we kissed, I cried. It was perfect.

About their shoot: Josh had asked Blissfully Illuminated Photography (who happens to be my dearest friend) to secretly capture this special moment for us. Josh took her to the location the day before to show her where he was going to propose. She did such a good job of being sneaky and not being noticed! I didn't see her at all! Such good memories forever now thanks to Abby! She is the best!
