Spanish-themed Wedding at the Monterey Country Club

"We were married two days after our five year anniversary. We always knew we wanted our wedding to be simple, family-friendly, and beautiful! We wanted the focus to be on the start of our marriage and our love.

We had our wedding in Palm Desert, California, where we both grew up and currently live. We designed our wedding around the Spanish-themed reception venue and opted for only a few small but powerful design touches--talavera tile table numbers and cookie favors, and desert-y flower arrangements with succulents in terra cotta pots. We made kids' tables with lollipop centerpieces, paper tablecloths, crayons, glow sticks, and disposable cameras. We had only a Maid of Honor and Best Man and were married by the same Deacon who baptized my husband when he was young.

Our wedding day was full of so many amazing moments. Our families were very much part of the ceremony and our parents stood up there with us when we were pronounced husband and wife. My favorite moments were the kiss (of course!), our first dance (which we never practiced), and sitting in the venue at the end of the night after everyone else was gone. We sat together in the quiet and said, "Oh my gosh...we're married!!" -the bride & groom

Wedding planning adviceRemember that your wedding day is a celebration of your marriage and love! Don't get bogged down by the celebration details. In the end, it doesn't matter what shade of pink your flowers were, what your bridesmaids wore, or what went wrong...you're married!!
