Woodland Romance Styled Shoot by Poiema Photography

" The vision for our photo shoot was “A Woodland Romance.” It took place tucked away in a eucalyptus grove on a hillside in Ventura, California. Our idea was to create contrast between the rustic beauty of nature and the refined beauty of a bride in her bridal suite. It was a beautiful morning and the sunlight burst through the trees as we set up vintage pieces provided by Vickie Berry from My Lovely Events. Vickie chose furnishings that best reflected a soft, romantic and feminine feel. We wanted our woodland bridal suite to gush with charm, so Vickie added vintage books, antique brass candlesticks, gold foiled nesting tables and classic French doors. Shades of soft pink, peach and white flowers were selected and arranged by Laurie Comeaux and Heather Wismann from Unique Floral Designs to accent the blushing bride on her wedding day. They laid garlands of eucalyptus, Ranunculus and roses across the French doors to incorporate the furniture into its natural surroundings. The floral arrangements and hairpieces designed and arranged by Unique Floral Designs also accented the soft tones in the bridal gowns and gave the vignettes life. Each bride wore a custom wedding dress designed by Mackenzie Jenewein at Elizabeth Mackenzie. 

Mackenzie’s inspiration was to handcraft a dress that would be unique to each bride and complement both the body and character of each bride while reflecting the beauty of nature. From soft skirts cascading like the garland adorning the French doors to bodices adorned with embroidered leaves and beaded fl owers the dresses complemented both the brides and their surroundings. The soft blush and cream tones brought a feminine elegance to the raw natural surroundings and the refined vignettes. Lacie Frantz at An Enlightened Eventused her talents with hair and make-up to further accentuate this elegance by creating soft romantic tresses. She adorned her creation with flower details and subtle make-up that would make any bride feel graceful and refined. Cailin Tabor caught the action, filming the entire process from start to finish. Brooke Borough from Poiema Photography captured this woodland romance. Using the natural light that broke through the trees, Brooke caught those moments when the inner beauty of each bride shone brightest within her natural surroundings. Every bride has a natural beauty that should be celebrated and put on display. In our Woodland Romance photo shoot we simply created an environment where we could best bring that beauty to life!"
